The Veterinary Council of India (VCI) is a statutory body under the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, established through the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984. It regulates veterinary education and practice across India.

For the academic year 2025-26, VCI will fill 15% of total B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats in all recognized veterinary colleges, including TANUVAS (Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University), through NEET (UG) 2025 scores.

Eligibility Criteria for BVSc & AH Admission (2025-26) - All India Quota (VCI)

Criteria Details
Nationality Indian Nationals are eligible.
OCI / PIO Candidates Eligible under General Category. Must produce valid proof.
Minimum Age Must be 17 years or older as on 31st December 2025.
Educational Qualification Must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English. Must also qualify NEET (UG) 2025.
Minimum Marks (General) 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotech & English in qualifying exam.
Minimum Marks (SC/ST/Others) 47.5% aggregate (as per VCI MSVE 2016 regulations).
Merit Basis Admission will be strictly based on NEET-UG 2025 ranking and fulfillment of other criteria.
Foreign Qualification Must provide equivalency certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Grade/CGPA System Candidates must convert grades to marks with a certified formula and submit proof.
Physical Disability Candidates with the following conditions are not eligible:
  • Body/chest/spine disability > 50%
  • Upper/lower limb disability > 50%
  • Blindness/deafness
  • Myopathies or other progressive diseases
  • Conditions that affect veterinary duties
Disability Certificate Must be issued by a Medical Board with 3 specialists (latest certificate within 3 months).

BVSc & AH Application Process (2025-2026) - 15% All India Quota

  5. Choice Filling and Locking
    • Select preferred veterinary colleges from the list

  6. Seat Allotment Results

Important Notes for Candidates
  1. Stray Round Counselling will be conducted fonly if seats remain vacant after Round 2.
  2. No new registration fee is required for Stray Round, but a refundable security payment of ₹50,000 (Gen/OBC/EWS) and ₹25,000 (SC/ST/PH) must be made.
  3. Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 or 2 (reported or not) will not be eligible for Stray Round.
  4. Choice Locking Timing: 4:00 PM to 11:55 PM on the last day of registration for each round.
  5. Registration closes strictly at 11:55 PM as per server time.
  6. Candidates must check the VCI Counselling Portal regularly for updates and vacancy details.

B.V.Sc. & A.H. Admission – 15% All India Quota (VCI)

Recognized Veterinary Colleges under 15% VCI Quota: 3

General Guidelines
  1. Admission under 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in recognized veterinary colleges across India.
  2. Counselling and seat allotment conducted online by VCI through NIC portal.
  3. Admission is strictly based on NEET (UG) 2025 rank and eligibility criteria.
  4. Seat allotment is applicable to both Government and Private Veterinary Colleges.
  5. Fee structure for private colleges is determined by respective State Governments or Universities.
Eligibility & Document Requirements
  1. Candidates educated outside India must produce a Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) confirming 10+2 equivalence.
  2. Students with CGPA/OGPA grading system must provide equivalent marks conversion certificate duly signed by the competent authority.
  3. PwD Candidates must present a valid UDID card issued under the RPwD Act, 2016.
  4. PwD cutoff will not be lower than SC/ST cutoff marks.
Counselling Rounds

VCI will conduct three online counselling rounds:

Counselling Process (Flow)
  1. Round 1
    • Register and pay the applicable fee.
    • Fill and lock choices online.
    • Download provisional allotment letter (if allotted).
    • Report to the allotted college with documents.
    • Candidates who report are eligible for Round 2 re-choice filling.
  2. Round 2
    • Only for fresh or re-choice candidates.
    • Fresh registration allowed for those not registered in Round 1.
    • Choices filling and seat allotment based on NEET rank.
    • Reporting to allotted college as per schedule.
  3. Stray Round
    • Conducted for vacant seats after Round 2.
    • No fresh registration.
    • Only previously registered candidates can participate by paying the Stray Round fee.
    • Seats allotted on the basis of merit and category.

Reporting Instructions

For Candidates:

  1. Report to the allotted college/university as per schedule (Annexure-1).
  2. Contact the Nodal Officer for admission and document verification.
  3. To participate in Round 2, the candidate must report physically in Round 1.
  4. Failure to report within the deadline leads to seat cancellation and disqualification from further rounds.

For Colleges/Universities:

  1. Nominate a Nodal Officer to facilitate admission under 15% AIQ.
  2. Verify admit cards, certificates, and fee receipts.
  3. Enter reporting and re-choice data in the VCI portal accurately.
  4. Ensure smooth verification and reporting process for each round.
