Overview:

TANUVAS stands for Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. It is India's first veterinary university, offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in veterinary and allied sciences.

The TANUVAS provides a comprehensive guide for admission to undergraduate programs in BVSc & AH and B.Tech courses in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, and Poultry Technology. The application process is strictly online and open from May 26 to June 20, 2025. A total of 660 seats are available for BVSc & AH across seven constituent colleges and 100 seats for B.Tech programs. Eligibility requires candidates to have completed 10+2 with Biology or Mathematics streams, meeting specific minimum mark criteria, age limits (17-21 years as of July 1, 2025), and Tamil Nadu nativity. Special quotas are available for differently-abled candidates, ex-servicemen, sports persons, children of freedom fighters, NRI/ICAR/VCI candidates, and 7.5% reservation for government school students.Application fees differ by course and category, and all supporting documents must be uploaded during application submission. The counselling process is primarily online, except for special categories which require in-person counselling. Admission to BVSc & AH involves signing a bond agreement with a ₹3 lakh penalty if the student discontinues after admission.

Eligibility

TANUVAS UG Admission Eligibility (Tamil Nadu State Quota)

  1. Nativity
    • Must be an Indian citizen and a native of Tamil Nadu.
    • If the candidate has studied Class VIII to XII in Tamil Nadu, no Nativity Certificate is required.
    • If studied any one of Class VIII to XII outside Tamil Nadu, a Nativity Certificate (Annexure-I) must be submitted.
    • OCI/PIO cardholders native of Tamil Nadu can apply under Open Category, unless born abroad after 04.03.2021.
  2. Age Limit (As on 31.12.2025)
    • Minimum: 17 years
    • Maximum:
      • General / OBC: 21 years
      • SC / SCA / ST: No upper age limit
      • Differently-abled: +5 years age relaxation
  3. Eligible Educational Streams
    • BVSc & AH:
      • Academic Stream: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Botany & Zoology
      • Vocational Stream: Biology + Agricultural Practices / Poultry / Dairying (only Tamil Nadu State Board)
    • BTech (FT / PT / DT):
      • Academic Stream only: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
  4. Minimum Qualification
    • Pass in 10+2 / HSC / CBSE or equivalent
    • Pass in Class 11 is also mandatory (TN State Board - after March 2019)
    • Candidates from Open Schooling / Private Mode / Biology as additional subject are not eligible
    • Improvement Marks and Co-curricular Marks are not considered
    • Attempts:
      • SC / SCA / ST: Max 3 attempts
      • Others: Max 2 attempts

Eligibility:
  • Must have completed 12 years of schooling (HSC/CBSE/ISC or equivalent) in English Medium
  • Subjects required:
    • BVSc AH: Biology (or Zoology + Botany), Physics, Chemistry
    • BTech (FT): Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
  • NRI Definition: Indian citizen residing outside India for more than 182 days/year
  • OCI/PIO are treated as NRIs for educational purposes

  • NRI status certificate (Candidate/Parent/Sponsor) from Indian Embassy (Specimen I / I(a))
  • Blood relationship proof with sponsor (Specimen I(a), II)
  • Sponsor's NRI/NRE/Foreign account bank statement for last 6 months
  • Payment proof in USD from NRI account only
Age Limit (as on date):
  • Minimum: 17 years by 31-Dec-2025
  • Maximum: 21 years by 01-Jul-2025
Selection Process:
  • 50% Qualifying Exam + 50% University Entrance Exam

Foreign National Category

  • BVSc & AH - 5 seats
  • BTech (Food Technology) - 2 seats
Eligibility:
  • Must be a foreign national with a valid foreign passport (Not of Indian Origin)
  • OCI/PIO NOT eligible under this category
  • Completed 12 years of education (Indian system or equivalent) in English Medium
  • Subjects required:
    • BVSc & AH: Biology (or Zoology + Botany), Physics, Chemistry
    • BTech: Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • English Proficiency Certificate if schooling was not in English
Age Limit:
  • Minimum: 17 years (by 31-Dec-2025)
  • Maximum: 25 years (by 01-Jul-2025)
Other Requirements:
  • Foreign national candidate/parent must have a foreign bank account with 6 months' statement
  • Institutional Economic Fee and Development Fee must be paid in USD from a foreign bank account only

APPLICATION PROCESS (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Visit the Admission Portal

Step 2: Candidate Registration

Click on “New Registration”

Enter:

  • Full Name
  • Mobile Number
  • Email ID
  • Create a password

A verification OTP will be sent to your mobile/email—verify to complete registration.

Step 3: Login to Fill Application

Use your registered mobile/email and password to log in.

Start filling the application form in stages:

  • Personal Details: Name, DOB, gender, religion, nativity, nationality
  • Contact Details: Address, PIN code, district, mobile
  • Parent/Guardian Info
  • Community and Caste (for reservation)
  • Educational Qualification: 10th and 12th marks and school details
  • Special Categories: NCC/Sports/Ex-servicemen (if applicable)

Step 4: Upload Scanned Documents

  • Photo (passport size) Max 200 KB
  • Signature Max 100 KB
  • 10th Mark Sheet & 12th Mark Sheet

  • Carefully review all the information.

  • Download and print the submitted application form for your records.

No need to send hard copies to the university. Submission is completely online.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

For Tamil Nadu Candidates (State Quota)

  1. Merit-based admission:
    • Based on marks scored in +2 (normalized)
    • No entrance exam for UG programs
  2. Cutoff Calculation:
    • For BVSc & AH: (Biology / Botany + Zoology) + Physics + Chemistry → Total (Max 200)
    • For BTech (FT/DT/PT): Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry → Total (Max 200)
  3. Merit List Publication:
    • Provisional and final rank lists will be released on the TANUVAS admission portal.
  4. Counseling Call:
    • Candidates shortlisted will be called for offline counseling.
    • Based on rank, community, and reservation categories.
    • Original Document Verification at counseling venue.
  5. Seat Allotment:
    • Confirm your seat on the spot
    • Pay admission fees immediately to hold your seat

For NRI / NRI-Sponsored / Foreign Nationals

  • Apply using the separate NRI/Foreign application form
  • Must submit:
    • Sponsorship Letter
    • Valid Passport/Visa
    • Proof of NRI Status
  • Admission will be based on:
    • +2 academic performance
    • Availability of seats under NRI quota
